Cello Lessons in Daly City, CA

The cello speaks directly to the heart.

We cannot sing; that is why we play the cello. - Noreen Silver

Dynamic and Fun Lessons

We don’t just stare at each other over our cellos! I incorporate rhythm exercises, ear training, music theory, and movement to keep lessons exciting and support my student’s exploration of the joy of music.

You can sound AMAZING

Cello tone is my specialty! There’s nothing more gorgeous than a great cello tone, and I love developing a wonderful sound with my students. Tweaks to bow grip, weight transfer, positioning, and speed can make a huge difference. Did you know that your left hand can affect your tone? I’d love to show you what I mean.

You can play comfortably, naturally, and without pain

Technique isn’t a one-size-fits-all thing. We’re all different - a bit bigger here and smaller there, and as children grow, they change (shocking, right?). I’ve learned multiple ways to play from different teachers with different techniques, and I want to support you in your journey to find a way of playing that feels natural to you! I bring lessons from the Alexander Technique to support relaxed strength in playing and principles for movement without tension.

A teacher who CARES

A relationship with a music teacher can be profound and formative, especially for children. I am mindful of my students’ trust and aim to support you in your journey, even when that means slowing down your progress, taking deep breaths, and finding a new way forward. Week to week and month to month, the study of music becomes a study of emotion and life. I care more about my students’ happiness than their technical excellence, and I want to see them succeed in meeting their own goals.
